Support Kenyan LGBTQ+ Youth Experiencing Homelessness

For over five years, True Colors United has been fostering meaningful partnerships with individuals and organizations at the forefront of the fight against homelessness across various regions, from Eastern Europe to East Africa. Now, we’re focusing our efforts on supporting Kenneth and Jacob’s House (KJHouse), the first LGBTQ+ youth housing program in Kenya.

Last summer, members of our team, including Dylan Waguespack, Coco Wheeler, and Twiggy Pucci Garçon, had the privilege of visiting Nairobi and spending time with our friends at KJHouse. Founded in January 2020 by Kenneth and Jacob, KJHouse emerged as a response to the pressing need to support LGBTQ+ youth facing homelessness, exacerbated by the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

What started as a pilot shelter project in their private apartment has blossomed into a comprehensive homelessness services provider. KJHouse offers intermediate-term shelter, psychosocial support, advocacy, and life skills to LGBTQ+ youth aged 18-24. Their commitment to creating a safe and nurturing environment for vulnerable youth is truly inspiring.

At True Colors United, we believe that the fight for LGBTQ+ liberation transcends borders. It’s a global movement fueled by solidarity and led by decolonizing practices. Now, more than ever, we must come together to resource organizations like KJHouse and empower them to continue their lifesaving work.

That’s why we’re inviting you to join us in raising funds to support KJHouse. Our goal of $2,600 will enable their shelter to remain open for an entire year, ensuring that LGBTQ+ youth in East Africa have access to the critical services they need to thrive.
