International Day for the Eradication of Poverty 2025

Today, October 17, 2025, Kenneth and Jacob’s House joins the global community in observing the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. This day is a powerful reminder that poverty extends beyond a lack of income; it is a violation of dignityjustice, and belonging. For gender diverse and sexual minority youths in Kenya, poverty is often inseparable from homelessnessfamily rejection, and social stigma.

“At Kenneth and Jacob’s House, we remain committed to providing safe transitional housingpsychosocial support, and life skills training to young people facing this intersectional poverty. Our comprehensive approach not only shelters but empowers these youths to regain their freedomleadership, and hope for a fulfilling life.”

The 2025 global theme emphasizes ending social and institutional maltreatment while ensuring respect and effective support for families. This aligns deeply with our vision of an inclusive society where every individual is celebrated and empowered to thrive.
